Person Specification
Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
1. Demonstrable tax expertise:
- a good technical and practical knowledge of a range of relevant areas of taxation,
- an ability to analyse the real-world impact of change for businesses, individuals and those who advise them,
- an appreciation of the significance of interconnections between different parts of the tax system.
2. Capacity to engage with the policy context:
- ability to engage, and work constructively and creatively with, stakeholders with different perspectives, expertise and priorities, both inside and outside one’s own organisation,
- an enthusiasm for exploring ways of simplifying the system for significant numbers of taxpayers or making a significant difference to the smooth operation of particular areas of the tax system,
- coupled with a realistic appreciation of the implications of the present economic and political context.
3. Ability to draft reports, analyse information and work flexibly:
- experience of drafting documents which need to be agreed with multiple stakeholders,
- ability to gather, order and analyse information from disparate sources,
- ability to organise own work flexibly to fit in with others’ work and timescales.
